Help us fight to bury the Ontario Line to save our community's parks, health and well-being.
Don’t get us wrong: we love transit! But we want it done right. Here are 10 reasons to bury the Ontario Line:
Reason #1
Avoid noise and vibration from 1,500+ trains a day
Reason #2
Keep park space for people, not construction
Reason #3
Stop a 12-metre high wall from dividing our community
Putting the line underground works!
Transit advocate Steve Munro and our community support this plan, and the city asked to explore it more closely. The green line below shows the underground route. Metrolinx claims that tearing down 6 bridges and raising them by 1 metre is “cheaper” than burying the line, but are refusing to provide a cost.

Health Impact Assessment
SJS, in partnership with the South Riverdale Community Health Centre, has crowd funded a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) in order to understand potential health risks associated with Metrolinx’s above ground Ontario Line. Contrary to Health Canada guidelines, Metrolinx has not carried out an HIA as part of their environmental assessment (EA). In fact, Metrolinx claims the design for the Ontario Line is final even before the release of their faulty EA and public consultation. This analysis was done by Ronald Macfarlane, a well respected environmental health expert who has conducted a number of HIAs during his two decades at Toronto Public Health. Below is a summary of the findings. For the full HIA, click here.
Who we are
We are members of the surrounding community who think everyone needs to know what is happening to our parks and green spaces. We advocate for sustainable public transit that respects environmental standards and that safeguards the health and well-being of communities. Here’s what we’ve been doing in the last year:
